South Holland and the Deepings MP Sir John Hayes recently met with Pancreatic Cancer UK in Parliament to support the charity’s campaign to ensure more people with pancreatic cancer get the early diagnosis and treatment they need.

In the UK, 7 in 10 people with pancreatic cancer never receive treatment, with more than half of people dying within three months of diagnosis. Survival rates for pancreatic cancer rank amongst the worst in Europe, with just 7% of sufferers of the disease surviving after 5 years.

Sir John said “It is shocking that so few people with pancreatic cancer get the treatment they need, and there remains significant challenges in detecting cancer of the pancreas. We must take action to ensure that people get early diagnosis by improving access to medical screenings and tests for those in need.”
