Sir John Hayes challenges the Government's Chagos surrender Bill amid nuclear weapon fears.
The Pelindaba Treaty, enforced since 2009, of which Mauritius is a signatory, establishes an intended African nuclear-free zone. The Government's surrender Bill threatens to breach this treaty, it will provide our adversaries the opportunity to seek nuclear weapons in Africa. The Chagos Bill will not only undermine our national and operational security, but also world security.
